Hmong batik employs a wax-resist technique to create intricate patterns on hemp fabric. The hemp is first grown, harvested, spun, and hand-woven into cloth. Designs are applied with bees wax and dyed organically with yamroot, which gives it the rich caramel color. This process showcases the Hmong’s craftsmanship and reflects their strong connection to nature and traditional methods.

*In collaboration with a local Vietnamese organization, we aim to support and promote the traditional textile craftsmanship of women from the various ethnic minority groups in Northern Vietnam.
*Because the textile is hand-dyed and hand-woven, slight imperfections such as loose threads or minor inconsistencies may occur. These are natural characteristics that reflect the craftsmanship and artisanal quality of the fabric.
